Summary: One of Roger Moore's better outings. After the ridiculous 'Moonraker,' it's back to basics here with some backstabbing, revenge and intrigue in the Mediterranean.

THE OPINION:

The twelfth James Bond movie is also Roger Moore’s fifth—and penultimate—performance as 007. Bond hits the Mediterranean and races the Soviets to find a sunken British spy ship with a secret device onboard.

TRIVIA:

  • Julian Glover, who plays the main villain Kristatos, was almost chosen to play Bond in Live and Let Die but he lost the part to Roger Moore.
  • Cassandra Harris, who plays Lisl von Schlaf, was married to future Bond actor Pierce Brosnan for 11 years until her death in 1991. She introduced Brosnan to the producers of the Bond movies.
  • Sheena Easton was the first Bond-song performer to appear onscreen during the opening titles.
  • For Your Eyes Only was the first Eon Bond movie not to feature Bernard Lee as M. Lee died in January 1981 before filming any of his scripted scenes.
